OMADU Lodge in Mangwe will stage a beauty pageant at the end of this month, where 20 models
have raised interest to battle it out on the ramp for the Miss Mangwe crown.
The colourful event will be aiming to uplift the tourism industry in Mangwe District and the province
    at large.
The Deputy Director of Matabeleland South Youth in Tourism, Simphiwe Vuyelwa Mguni, confirmed
the development and said preparations were at an advanced stage with high profile dignitaries
    having confirmed their attendance.
As Mangwe Youth in Tourism, we opted this year to have a pageantry event, which is set to
    highlight our tourism sector.
“The occasion will be officially opened by the Minister of Environment, Climate Tourism and
Hospitality Industry Mr. Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu. The Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti and
Minister Evelyn Ndlovu and Mangwe MP Hlalani Mguni are also dignitaries expected to grace the
    occasion.
We are eager to bring awareness for sustainable tourism, and turn Matabeleland South into a
    tourism powerhouse,
“We are also looking to facilitate music tourism, business tourism, cultural tourism and art tourism
through our event that encompasses business stall exhibitions, visual art exhibitions and music live
    performances,” she said.
One of the contestants, Cleopatra Mpofu (20), said modelling had always thrilled her and hopes to
take the crown on the day.
I have attended Miss Masvingo and Bulawayo functions not knowing I would one day also have a
chance to walk on the ramp.
“Modelling is in my bloodstream and I hope to be the winner when I contest,” she said.
Sandra Ndebele, Ma9ine and Admire Magwaza are expected to uplift the mood of the audience on
    the dance floor.
