Aspiring councilors in Hwange Central Constituency have described the just ended nomination court
as a fair and professional process.
The nomination court process to select candidates who qualify for the Presidential, National
Assembly and Local Authority categories attracted aspiring councilors from 15 urban wards in the
Hwange Central Constituency who managed to submit their papers at Hwange Local Board.
Peterson Ncube, an aspiring candidate for Ward 7 Hwange central constituency said the process was
very fair and professional.
‘’The process was very fair, the nomination court for me was professional. It was a good experience.
It gave us a kind of reflection of how the country is run, professionally and fairly,” said Ncube.
Thembinkosi Muremba, an Independent candidate for Ward 12 Hwange urban echoed similar
sentiment saying the process was fair.
“For me the vetting process was a fair process, we were all treated fairly from my own observation.
It was so practical as per the guideline.
Meanwhile the nomination court in Hwange urban was held peacefully at Hwange Local Board
offices. The process started at 10 am and at exactly 4 pm the doors of the nomination court process
were closed.
Most candidates who came for the nomination process managed to submit, except for aspiring
candidate for Ward 8 Theresa Mutara who failed to submit her papers because she was late.
Only two Independent candidates successfully made it in the race, Cecil Mahlangu will be contesting
in Ward 6 and Thembinkosi Muremba in Ward 12 will contest as independent candidates. NCA party
only has one aspiring councillor in Ward 11. The remaining wards are dominated by the ruling Zanu
PF aspiring councillors and the CCC party.
