GWERU – Relegation threatened Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Sheasham FC finally
wielded the axe on coach John Nyikadzino after a slow start to the season.
Promoted this year, the Construction Boys have been in the relegation zone since the start of the
season. They are currently second from bottom with 12 points from 14 matches.
They are above army side Black Rhinos who have nine points in the 18 team league. Highlanders
took over the top position from Ngezi Platinum who drew 0-0 with Sheasham. Bosso beat Triangle 1-
0 at Babourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.
Nyikadzino’s last day in the Sheasham’s dressing room was on Sunday when his charges were held to
a goalless draw by visiting Ngezi Platinum at Bata Stadium.
Sheasham chairperson Reginald Chidawanyika said the club had engaged former Bulawayo Chiefs
head coach Lizwe Sweswe to take over from Nyikadzino.
Chidawanyika said Sweswe had signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and is expected to steer the
club to the next level starting with the relegation fight and making it a brand to reckon with in the
country.
"Given his track record, and the club's objectives we believe that the prevailing environment will be
conducive for the next level achievements as it has been for his predecessor for the journey this far
from the First Division," Chidawanyika said.
Sheasham's executive had stood by Nyikadzino despite the team's poor performance and had a
week earlier said they were not going to point fingers.
The team last week unveiled Zambian Reuben Njavera as assistant coach a move that was aimed at
bringing new ideas to the team.
They also signed veteran striker Kuda Musharu and left winger Dinoleen Masukuta
