MARONDERA- The Second Republic intends to speed up the construction and
rehabilitation of several roads in Mashonaland East.
Dr David Parirenyatwa who is a member of the 10-member Presidential Elders
Council revealed this when he addressed multitudes of people at a recent Zanu PF
campaign at Chimhau Secondary School in the Dombwe area of Murehwa South
    constituency.
Road networks that link Murehwa with other districts will be spruced up so that the
town can be accessed without much hassles.
“The Second Republic under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa
walks the talk when it comes to developmental projects, including infrastructure that
improve the standard of people’s lives. There are road projects that are currently
underway and these will shock a lot of people on completion.
    “We have the Murewa-Macheke, Tollgate-Broomley, Murewa-Nyamapanda,
Mandicheche (old Harare Road), Marondera-Musami road rehabilitation projects that
are ongoing. The late former Minister of Transport and Infrasctural Development Cde
Joel Biggie Matiza oversaw the commencement of the Murewa-Macheke road
rehabilitation. There have been calls to continue developing this route and the
Government is committed to fulfill that.
“Murehwa is an agro-based community and farmers need to transport their produce
from Point A to Point B without any hindrances. We will make sure that the road is
rehabilitated for their convenience,” Dr Parirenyatwa said.
He added that the Second Republic, through its projects and programmes, is
determined to ensure that the country attains the Vision 2030 mantra of making
    Zimbabwe an upper-middle-income economy.
He said: “Vision 2030 is a master stroke and we will achieve it through its main driver
which is the National Development Strategy-1 (NDS-1). The plan has both short-tem
and long-term goals and is our strategic instrument for development. Our country is
developing and it is only us, as Zimbabweans, who can help it achieve its goals,
brick by brick. Noone and no place is being left out in matters of national
    development.”

Dr Parirenyatwa canvassed for the electorate to vote for President Mnangagwa in
the forthcoming harmonised elections slated for August 23.
“President Mnangagwa deserves another mandate to lead the direction which this
country is taking and as we head towards this year’s harmonised elections, I would
like to appeal to you to vote for him so that he can be in a position to complete the
projects that he started,” he said.
