Sithembinkosi Ndhlovu is the new Hwange Women Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ)
chairperson taking over from Sera Phiri who was only in office for a short period of time.
The other members besides Sithembinkosi Ndhlovu as chairperson are vice chairperson-
Trinity Chipembere, treasurer- Tariro Shyline Tshuma, secretary- Yeyani Dropa, representing
Women with Disability (WWD)- Amina Phiri ,committee member- Faluza M Tembo,
committee Member- Ruth Bikwa and the Young Women Forum chairperson- Lorraine
Mubayira.
Ndhlovu said during her term she will hold duty bearers to account on behalf of women and
other Hwange residents to improve service delivery.
“As a Hwange Chapter we will have more women as part of the coalition especially from the
concession area and also in other rural wards. All duty bearers in such areas need to be
answerable to all service delivery,” said Sithembinkosi Ndhlovu.
The 38-year-old who is a journalist by profession and a Greater Hwange Residents Trust
Programmes Officer said she will introduce programmes for women on climate change.
“We will initiate a programme on waste management at household level where we would
encourage women to segregate waste to recycle and to reuse,” she said.
“I have worked with several international organisations and have had an opportunity to attend
the SADC People's Conference in Tanzania and have represented Women in Zimbabwe
living in mining affected communities in Durban, South Africa. I have also written and
defended petitions on incorporation and water challenges in Hwange. I have worked with

various youth and women organisations such as Hwange Youth Empowerment Initiative,
Shangano Arts, Hopeville as well as Centre for Natural Resources Governance (CNRG).
The Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe is a non-partisan national network dedicated to
promoting women’s rights, is a national membership based network of women’s rights
activists and women’s organisations. It is a forum where women meet to engage in collective
activism on issues affecting women and girls in Zimbabwe. The coalition brings women and
girls from diverse backgrounds to collectively advocate for the attainment and enjoyment of
their rights.
