SANYATI – THE Sanyati Rural District Council has commissioned four tipper trucks,
a rig and a grader for use in road maintenance, courtesy of devolution funds.
The Vice-President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Minister of Health
and Child Care presided over the commissioning during a ruling party star rally held
at Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma last week.
The four tipper trucks, a grader and a rig were purchased using devolution funds
allocated to the rural district council by the Government.
Sanyati Rural District Council CEO, Archim Shadaya, commended the Government
for the devolution funds that have assisted the council to perform its duties in serving
    the community.
He also thanked VP Chiwenga for commissioning the equipment for Sanyati Rural
District Council and the three tipper trucks for Kadoma City Council.
The grader is of importance in the initial stages of road construction, while the tipper
trucks are used to transport sand, gravel and materials for road construction and can
also be used for refuse collection.
The rig is mainly used for borehole drilling and can drill six boreholes a day for a
minimum depth of 40metres and maximum depth of 100metres.
Speaking at the rally, VP Chiwenga applauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa for
the devolution funds concept which has capacitated local authorities throughout the
country especially in road construction and maintenance.
The Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mary Mliswa –Chikoka,
appreciated President Mnangagwa for the initiative of availing devolution funds to
local authorities, saying that this has resulted in massive development in roads,
clinics, schools construction and borehole drilling. – ZIS
