ZANU PF’s Second Secretary, Kembo Mohadi, has urged the people of Masvingo to
give President Emmerson Mnangagwa a second term so he can fulfil his vision of an
upper middle income economy by 2030.
Speaking in Masvingo recently Mohadi said people should go out in their numbers
on August 23 and rally behind President Mnangagwa and make an emphatic
statement to the world.
“When we go out to vote on 23 August, we will be knowledgeable of what we are
voting for. You, the people from Masvingo and Zimbabwe, we urge you to give His
Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, a second mandate to complete his
programme of Vision 2030 because your votes on 23 August will be a great
message to both the opposition party and to the British and Americans,” he said.
Zimbabwe under the Second Republic has registered success stories that include
the Harare-Beitbridge highway, which is being undertaken by the local companies;
the upgrading of the Beitbridge border post; and the establishment of rural
community businesses and industries which will drive rural economy, for example,
the Marula processing plant in Mwenezi.
In Masvingo, the Government under the devolution funds has completed 180
projects and has drilled over 1 000 boreholes.
Mohadi said the people must go out in their numbers to vote and ensure that Zanu
PF wins resoundingly.
“We want to win resoundingly; we want our President to win resoundingly. We don’t
want 2/3 majority. We want 7/8 majority in Parliament. I hope you will go out in your
numbers and you are going to vote for President, the local MP and the local
councillor.”
Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira,
said Masvingo province has benefitted immensely since the coming in of the second
republic with nearly 700 projects having being completed in the province.
“Under the second republic, at least 677 project were completed with 140 projects at
70 percent completion. About 180 devolution projects were completed and these
include clinics, schools, bridges and buying of road equipment. Over 1 291
boreholes were drilled in Masvingo since President Mnangagwa’s assumption of the
top office,he said.

In terms of electricity, the Mutirikwi 5 megawatts project is now at 65 percent and we
are expecting another 20 megawatts from Tugwi Mukosi. Construction is set to

commence this year. Masvingo will never have challenges of electricity after the
completion of these projects.”
