Harare (New Ziana) – Police said on Saturday they had made over 9 000 arrests in a ongoing traffic national blitz aimed at bringing back sanity to the country’s roads.
Termed “Tame the Traffic Jungle”, police said in a statement on X (formerly twitter) 9 673 arrests were made and 4 307 vehicles impounded for moving on the country’s roads with various defects. An additional 309 vehicles were also impounded for unspecified traffic regulations transgressions.
Separately, police in Bulawayo are investigating an incident in which 14 students that were wearing different uniforms were found at a Vuzu party at a house in Pumula South on Friday. Condoms and empty containers of alcohol were recovered at the scene.
In Harare, the police are appealing for information that might assist to identify a male adult who was found dead at Arcadia Sports Club near Dieppe Road. The victim had a cut at the back of the head.
