CHEGUTU – A visually impaired man is nursing serious injuries from bees after he
was stung while at his house in Kaguvi section recently.
Sekuru Moyo, whose wife is also visually impaired, was attacked by bees that found
refuge in a toilet.
It is believed that the bees could have been provoked by young boys, who were
playing street soccer game. The boys ran for safety, leaving Sekuru Moyo at the
mercy of the bees. Sekuru Moyo sought refuge at his neighbour’s but the bees
followed him. They also attacked his neighbour’s family, which fled, leaving the
helpless man alone. The bees eventually left at will.
Mrs Moyo was away from home during that difficult time.
Sekuru Moyo suffered a swollen face and head. He was rushed to Chegutu General
Hospital, where he was treated and discharged a day later.
His neighbour, Dzingirai Kure, said Sekuru Moyo was discharged from hospital but
has lost appetite and complains of severe stomach pain.
=Our old man is now safe at his home. He was discharged from hospital but is
complaining of constipation, He has also lost appetite, said Kure.
Bees tend to attack people when they are provoked. They can sting and at times
their attack can be fatal.
