    Five die in separate road accidents

    GWERU — Five people died and three others were seriously injured in two different accidents which
    occurred in the Midlands province last weekend.

    Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the fatal
    road traffic accidents.

    Insp. Mahoko said on November 25 around 11:30 pm, Nsingo Cephas (43) of Fortune Park,
    Mberengwa was driving a Ford Ranger Double Cab along Mberengwa-West Nicholson road, with five
    passengers.

    On approaching the 27km peg, the vehicle veered off the road and overturned several times killing
    two people on the spot. The driver and one passenger died on admission at Mberengwa District
    Hospital. Two passengers were injured.

    ZRP Zvishavane Traffic department attended the scene, and the bodies and injured persons were
    taken to Mberengwa District Hospital.

    In another accident that happened on November 26 around 6:30 am, it is alleged that Bernard
    Mauru (48) of Seke Chitungwiza was driving an Inter Africa Bus carrying 35 passengers while Justice
    Shoko of Zvishavane Light industries was driving an Eicher lorry on the same road.

    “The bus was following behind the lorry along Masvingo-Mbalabala road going towards Zvishavane,
    on approaching the 84km peg, the bus tried to overtake the lorry and in the process, hit the lorry.
    “As a result, the lorry overturned. The lorry driver died on the spot and one passenger from the bus
    was injured,” said Insp. Mahoko.

    The dead and the injured were taken to Zvishavane General Hospital.
