CHINHOYI – THE Zimbabwe Union of Journalist (ZUJ) Mashonaland West
Journalism and Media Awards will be held on December 8, where the award winners
    will be unveiled.
The Provincial Journalism and Media Awards recognise and rewards outstanding
work in the field of Journalism and are intended at promoting quality reporting and
thereby increasing public trust in the media.
The awards also encourage innovation and creativity in Journalism, as journalists
strive to produce work that is worthy of the awards.
Additionally, the awards serve as an important source of recognition and validation
for journalists, who often work long hours facing many challenges.
The event is sponsored by companies and individuals, among them are ZIMPLATS,
Chinhoyi Pharmacy, Ectech Technologies, with individuals being MP for Chinhoyi
Constituency, Leslie Mhangwa, Dr Muza and Nunurai Jena.
“The awards are there to reward excellence and promote uptake of marginalised
topics. All categories, including upcoming journalists, are available subjects to having
a sponsor. There is no way we can put an award without funding. Interns get help
from mentors and editors and have previously won in other open categories which
they competed with experienced journalists. There is no one stopping the interns
from participating and winning in open fair play,” said James Minowa the ZUJ
    provincial chairman.
