Victoria Falls is gearing up to host the prestigious Victorian Awards, honouring outstanding individuals and companies who have made significant contributions across various industries.
The Victorian Awards nomination process has commenced, with the public invited to nominate outstanding artists and business individuals from January 22 until February 12, ahead of the official awards ceremony date announcement.
The Victorian Awards will honour outstanding achievements across 11 categories, with 60 prestigious awards to be presented. The categories include Community and Social Initiatives, Business, Tourism and Hospitality, and Sports Awards.
Other categories comprise Music and Entertainment, Media and Photography, Events and Decor, Visual, Performing, and Literacy Arts, Health, Wellness, and Fitness, and Beauty and Fashion.
Musician and youth development activist Lymon ‘Lights Out’ Moyo emphasised that the initiative plays a vital role in promoting upcoming artists nationwide, indirectly motivating them to pursue their passions.
“It is very good to conduct some awards as per city/town because it empowers young aspirants. Looking at the whole picture it is so difficult for other yet to be known artists to submit for national awards such as ZIMA and NAMA.
“The breaking down of awards is actually a great move, it can make organisers of big events to easily identify artists and fellow business individuals at provincial level without only identifying big cities,” said Lights Out.
National awards recognise top performers across the entire nation, honouring exceptional individuals and groups while city awards focus on local talent, providing a platform for emerging aspirants to shine. Local awards also serve as a stepping stone, motivating and inspiring recipients to strive for national recognition.
Victoria Falls, a thriving tourist resort town, is expected to witness intense competition across all categories. The town’s booming businesses, coupled with a vibrant entertainment sector, have created a melting pot of artistic expression, where culture is beautifully defined through various forms of art.
