Harare, (New Ziana) – Prominent private educational institution, Herentals College has been fined $300 by the Gweru Magistrates’ court for operating an unregistered independent centre of learning in the city’s Central Business District.

The institution offers a wide range of educational services across multiple levels operating several primary and secondary schools that follow the Zimbabwean curriculum across the country, with special emphasis on both academic excellence and the development of practical skills.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the court found that Herentals College [Private] Limited illegally established, operated, and maintained Herentals College Gweru CBD from 2022 to March 2025 without the necessary registration from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE).

The operation violated the Education Act, which mandates that all independent colleges must be registered.

Investigations revealed that the college had a significant student population, ranging from 400 to 500, and employed 8 teachers teaching various subjects.

The MoPSE confirmed that Herentals College Gweru CBD was not registered and did not have any record of ever applying for registration.
