KWEKWE – A Zvishavane-based pastor is accused of violating his faith by allegedly sodomising a teenage boy at gunpoint in a shocking incident that occurred at the boy’s home in Redcliff on Heroes Day.
The pastor was arraigned before the Kwekwe Magistrates Court, facing charges of aggravated indecent assault against an 18-year-old man. He was remanded in custody to August 27 for trial.
It is alleged that the victim woke up to find himself being caressed by the pastor, who was visiting the victim’s family in Redcliff. “When the victim inquired about his actions, the accused allegedly said the victim was ‘too handsome,’ and that the lack of a beard made him feel as if he was in bed with a woman,” said the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe.
The pastor is alleged to have forcibly removed the man’s shorts and threatened to shoot him if he screamed for help. He allegedly forced the teenager to lie on his stomach and then sexually assaulted him three times.
He subsequently forced the victim to perform a sexual act on him. Out of fear, the victim complied. The victim disclosed his ordeal to his aunt on the same day. The matter was reported to Redcliff Police Station, leading to the pastor’s arrest.
