Harare, (New Ziana)- A 19-year-old man, Carrington Mutasa, has been convicted of bestiality involving a chicken by the Mutare Magistrates Court and sentenced to eight months.
The sentence was, however, commuted to 175 hours of community service.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, on September 16, 2025, around 1730 hours, the offender entered the homestead of the chicken’s owner at Piki Village, Chief Zimunya area, in Mutare.
Finding no one at home, the offender unlawfully entered the fowl run, grabbed a hen and engaged in sexual activity with it.
After the act, the offender was seen leaving the fowl run by the chicken owner’s granddaughter.
The granddaughter informed her grandparent what she had seen, whereupon the chicken owner inspected the hen and discovered that it had a large hole on its cloaca area.
The victim informed her neighbours about the incident, and together they apprehended the offender.
The offender confessed to having sexual intercourse with the hen.
A report was made at Zimunya Police Post leading to his arrest.
