Harare, (New Ziana)- In a move that has won recognition across the continent, Zimbabwe has been named among the top ten African countries with the best road quality this year.
According to a recent list compiled by a leading Pan-African publication The Vanguard, Zimbabwe closes the top-10 list of African nations with the best road networks, a testament to its continuing efforts to overhaul and improve its transport arteries.
Roads linking major cities notably Harare, Bulawayo, and Mutare have been repaired and upgraded under government-led infrastructure programs.
Freight operators have already begun to report tangible benefits namely lower fuel and tyre costs owing to smoother roads, and faster travel times for goods and people alike.
The recognition comes at a time when the government under the Second Republic, has placed infrastructure investment at the center of its development agenda.
From road upgrades to rehabilitating key intercity links, the push aims to revive economic activity, boost trade, and improve mobility for Zimbabweans.
Being ranked among Africa’s top 10 for road quality sends a strong signal that these efforts are starting to pay off, delivering real improvements on the ground, while also helping restore investor and regional confidence in connectivity and logistics.
For the country, the accolade represents a vindication of the national strategy to rebuild and modernise its road network, with the promise of long-term benefits for commerce, mobility, and national development.
