Harare, (New Ziana) – The 2026 cotton marketing season is set to open next week, a top industry official said on Tuesday.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands, acting Cottco chief executive officer, Sifelani Jabangwe said despite constraints being experienced in the industry, the marketing season will kick off on May 11.
“The 2026 marketing season is expected to start on 11 May 2026. What we require normally is to have all the requirements like wool packs in time for the marketing season.
“Because of the challenges that we had financially, we could not manage to secure woolpacks on time; but we have made provisions for alternative packaging material that we are going to use for the coming season, which is going to start on Monday 11 May, ” Jabangwe told legislators.
