Harare, (New Ziana) – A dispute over a funeral parlour pamphlet ended in tragedy in Nyamandlovu, Lupane, after two brothers were found dead following a violent altercation, police have said.
In a statement, national police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi said the incident occurred on June 6, 2026, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are ongoing.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating murder cases which occurred in Nyamandlovu, Lupane, on 6th June 2026, in which two brothers died following a violent altercation arising from a dispute over a funeral parlour pamphlet.
Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the brothers had been given a funeral parlour pamphlet containing information on how to join the funeral service. An argument subsequently arose, with one brother accusing the other of intending to join Satanism.
During the altercation, one brother allegedly struck the other several times on the head with a log,” said Nyathi.
He said the injured man later sought refuge at a friend’s home, where he was offered shelter. However, he was found dead the following day.
In a twist to the tragic incident, the other brother was also discovered dead on the same date after his body was found lying under a tree, bearing bruises all over.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances that led to the deaths and have appealed for information that may assist with the inquiries.
The deaths have left the local community shocked as investigators work to establish the full sequence of events that led to the loss of life.
