Sungura music icon Alick Macheso was involved in an early morning road accident shortly after performing at Legends Bar in Juru-Bhora Growth Point, about 40km along the Mutoko Road outside Harare.
According to band management, the incident occurred as the musician and his team were travelling after the show, which drew a sizeable crowd.
Speaking to reporters, Lucky Macheso, one of the band’s managers, confirmed the incident but reassured fans that the veteran musician escaped without injury.
“He was involved in an accident, but fortunately there were no injuries reported. Everyone is safe and continuing with planned engagements,” said Lucky Macheso.
Despite the scare, Macheso is said to be continuing with preparations for his upcoming performance in Beira, Mozambique, scheduled for June 26, where he is expected to be backed by his Cheso Boys band as part of his ongoing regional tour.
