Harare, July 2, 2026 (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on ZANU PF leaders to intensify efforts to strengthen unity in the party, accelerate national development, and ensure that economic transformation continues to improve the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

Addressing the 27th Ordinary Session of the National Consultative Assembly (NCA) in Harare on Friday, President Mnangagwa said the revolutionary party remained steadfast in its commitment to empowering citizens while driving the modernization and industrialization agenda of the country.

“Our colossal revolutionary mass Party remains unwavering in its commitment to the empowerment and an improved quality of life for our people. The modernization, industrialization and broader national development agenda of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe, continues to gain momentum,” he said.

The National Consultative Assembly, one of ZANU PF’s highest advisory organs established under the party Constitution, brings together members of the Central Committee, the National Assembly of the Women’s League and their deputies, the 10 provincial executive councils, and former Central Committee members recognized for their contribution to the liberation struggle and national development.

The body receives, debates and makes recommendations on major party and Government policy issues as determined by the President and the Central Committee.

President Mnangagwa described the Assembly as an indispensable institution whose experience and collective wisdom remain critical in shaping the future direction of the party.

“The National Consultative Assembly occupies a special place within our Party structures and serves as an indispensable advisory organ. We count on your collective leadership, wisdom, experience, and patriotism to help in shaping the direction of our revolutionary Party and beloved motherland, Zimbabwe,” he said.

He challenged delegates to provide the meeting with practical recommendations that would strengthen party structures and consolidate the party ahead of its 23rd National People’s Conference to be hosted by Mashonaland West province.

President Mnangagwa applauded the party’s ongoing organizational reforms, noting that leadership training programs, ideological seminars and constitutional workshops had enhanced the effectiveness of structures at every level.

He said the recent operationalization of all 11 Standing Committees of the Central Committee marked a significant milestone in strengthening internal democracy and accountability within the party.

President Mnangagwa also called for the preservation of ZANU-PF’s liberation history, directing the Secretary General’s Office to establish a modern and comprehensive archive documenting the party’s rich heritage and key historical figures.

Reflecting on the legacy of the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo, he urged members to remain steadfast in defending the gains of the liberation struggle.

“His unwavering dedication to the liberation of our country, national unity and social justice remains a source of inspiration to our Party and the nation at large,” he said.

President Mnangagwa said embracing technology would be central to the future growth of the party, urging members to harness innovation to improve communication, efficiency, and service delivery.

On the economic front, he said the people-centred policies of the Second Republic were delivering tangible results across the country through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, mining and industrial development.

“To date, I am pleased that our vision for people-centred development is positively impacting lives. In all areas of the country, projects such as roads, dams, schools, health facilities, irrigation schemes, mining and industrial development are there for all to see,” he said.

He reaffirmed Government commitment to ensuring that development benefits every Zimbabwean regardless of geographical location.

“Development in any part of Zimbabwe is development for all Zimbabweans,” he said, adding, “No one and no place will be left behind.”

President Mnangagwa highlighted the continued rollout of the rural industrialization program through Village Business Units and the “Dam as an Economy” concept, saying these initiatives were bringing industries, markets and economic opportunities directly to communities.

He also expressed optimism over another record-breaking winter wheat harvest while noting that increased production of tobacco, cotton and horticultural crops had strengthened national food security and improved household incomes.

In the mining sector, he said the government would continue promoting value addition and beneficiation to ensure Zimbabwe’s mineral wealth creates employment and drives industrial growth.

“Tinoda kuti zvicherwa zvedu zvivandudzwe muno munyika, vana vedu vawane mabasa, nyika iwane mari (we want our minerals to be vallue added inside the country, so that our children have jobs, the country earns mor revenue),” he said.

President Mnangagwa further hailed the country’s election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term and the its forthcoming assumption of the COMESA Chairmanship as milestones reflecting growing international confidence in its diplomacy.

He encouraged delegates to openly assess the party’s progress and propose practical solutions that would strengthen both the organization and Government programs for the benefit of all Zimbabweans.
