HARARE — The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed former Croatian international Stella Gotal as the new coach of the Mighty Warriors as the association moves to strengthen its national women’s football technical structures.

Gotal is expected to be unveiled alongside a new group of national team coaches as part of changes being implemented by ZIFA.

The 2026 appointment marks a new chapter for the Mighty Warriors, with Gotal bringing international playing and coaching experience to the Zimbabwean side.

The Croatian holds a UEFA Pro coaching licence, the highest qualification in European football coaching, and was most recently in charge of the Gibraltar senior women’s national team.

She left her position with Gibraltar in June this year, paving the way for her move into the Zimbabwean national team set-up.

ZIFA is expected to formally announce the new technical appointments today, with the association seeking to build competitive national teams capable of challenging for honours on the continental stage.

Gotal will inherit a Mighty Warriors side with a rich history in African women’s football and will be expected to use her international experience to help develop the team and improve its competitiveness.

The appointment also comes at a time when ZIFA is restructuring its national team technical departments as it seeks to improve the standard and consistency of Zimbabwean football.

Further details on Gotal’s technical team and her immediate assignments are expected to be announced by ZIFA.
