GUTU Rural District Council has announced the death of its chairperson, Councillor Charles Mannie.

In a condolence message, the council said it was deeply saddened by the death of Councillor Mannie on Monday, describing his passing as a major loss to the district and the communities he served.

The council described the late councillor as a dedicated leader whose passion for development left an indelible mark on the district.

“His leadership, dedication, and passion for development have left an indelible mark on our district and will continue to inspire us,” Gutu RDC said.

Councillor Mannie’s death is expected to leave a leadership gap at the local authority as the district continues to pursue its development agenda and its vision of becoming a provider of quality service delivery by 2030.

The council extended its condolences to his family, friends, and the wider Gutu community during this difficult period.

It said his legacy of service and commitment to the people will not be forgotten.

The council has not yet announced the circumstances of his death or any funeral arrangements.
