HARARE — Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has rewarded veteran Sungura musician Taruvinga Manjokota, popularly known as Sugar Sugar, with a brand-new Toyota Fortuner and US$10,000 in cash following the success of his hit song “Mudododo.”

Chivayo, a socialite, founder and managing director of Intratrek Zimbabwe (Private) Limited, announced the gift in a public statement on Thursday, stating that the musician should collect a fully paid 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 from Enterprise Car Sales in Harare next Wednesday.

The billionaire also pledged US$10,000 to the musician as a fuel allowance.

Chivayo said he was motivated to reward Sugar Sugar after “Mudododo” captured the imagination of Zimbabweans across different generations.

“When you compose a song that crosses generations to the extent that even our little children know it, request it, and dance to it, then surely that talent cannot simply be ignored,” he said.

“Well done to you, my dear brother… You composed a masterpiece.”

Chivayo said the song had also become a source of personal motivation, adding that music plays an important role in uplifting people’s moods.

He described music as “one of the best medicines in life,” saying that listening to “Mudododo” helps him prepare for work.

In recent weeks, the song has enjoyed widespread popularity on digital platforms, particularly TikTok and Facebook, where it has inspired numerous user-generated videos and dance challenges.

Sugar Sugar recently explained the meaning behind the song’s title, describing “Mudododo” as an anthem of prosperity and linking it metaphorically to Zimbabwe’s abundant natural resources, hard work, financial progress, and family stability.

This latest gesture adds to a series of high-value gifts Chivayo has given to musicians, influencers, and religious figures in recent months.

The businessman has previously made headlines for giving vehicles and cash to personalities in the entertainment and social sectors.
