MASVINGO — Heavy rains lashed Masvingo City on Monday evening, leaving a trail of destruction after strong winds and hailstorms ripped off rooftops, shattered windows and damaged property.
The downpour, which was accompanied by strong winds and hail and lasted for at least 30 minutes, left many residents counting their losses.
Several houses and churches had their roofs blown off, while windows were shattered by the storm.
Vegetable gardens were also destroyed, while gates at some homes were blown away and security walls collapsed under the force of the strong winds.
Residents were left assessing the extent of the damage as the storm subsided.
