POLICE have arrested a 24-year-old man from Zindoga Village under Chief
Madziwa, in Shamva on charges of attempted murder.
Prince Katsvairo is now expected to appear for initial remand at the Bindura
Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
According to Assistant Inspector Tonny Nyandoro, who is the provincial ZRP deputy
spokesperson, on September 26, Katsvairo approached the complainant Brian
Pawokonorwa at Goora Business Centre in Madziwa and accused him of moving
around the community alleging that Pawokonorwa was having an extra marital affair
with Moila Gunzvi of the nearby Gunzvi Village, allegations which Pawakonorwa
denied.
Katsvairo then slapped Pawakonorwa several times on his face before pushing and
tripping him to ground.
“He went on to take out an Okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed the complainant
on the right side of his neck.
“Misheck Chirume (26) of Fakanya Village rushed to the scene and restrained
Katsvairo from further injuring Pawakonorwa,” said Ass Insp Nyandoro.
Pawakonorwa sustained a deep cut on his neck and is receiving treatment.
Katsvairo has been arrested and will appear in court facing attempted murder
charges according to police.
The police is reiterating its calls to the public to find better ways of resolving
differences without violence.
“As police, we urge the public to desist from engaging in public violence. Instead,
people should resolve their differences amicably. They can seek the service of
police, community or local leaders too,” said Ass Insp Nyandoro.
