AirZim introduces Harare- Mutare flights for Sanganai

Harare,  (New Ziana) – Air Zimbabwe said on Thursday it will operate daily return flights between Harare and Mutare from September 8 to 14, ahead of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel Expo expected to take place from 10 to 12 September 2025 in Mutare.

In a statement, the national air carrier said the service was being offered on a trial basis for now, with a view of making it permanent if it garnered sufficient demand. It noted that the move reaffirmed Air Zimbabwe’s role as a key enabler of tourism growth and a committed partner in showcasing Zimbabwe’s attractions to the world.

“This timely addition to the flight schedule forms part of Air Zimbabwe’s strategic turnaround initiatives, which include expanding the national carrier’s route network and improving domestic connectivity. The move reflects our unwavering commitment to making travel within Zimbabwe easier, more convenient, and more accessible, thereby supporting the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry’s efforts to grow the tourism sector,” said Air Zimbabwe.

“This operation is a pilot project. We are testing the market, understanding demand, and exploring the long-term viability of this route. If the demand is there, Air Zimbabwe will be ready to make it a permanent feature of our network,” said chief executive officer Edmund Makona.

He said the airline had worked closely with other stakeholders to ensure that all infrastructure and support services are in place for a smooth operation of the Harare- Mutare flights.

“Air Zimbabwe is more than an airline; we are a bridge that connects people, cultures, and opportunities. These Harare–Mutare flights are proof of our dedication to growth, our belief in Zimbabwe’s tourism potential, and our determination to keep the nation flying high,” said Makona.
