Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique and the Kingdom of Eswatini, Victor Matemadanda, has died.
The news of his passing was announced on Sunday by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, who said the diplomat died on Saturday night.
In a message shared on social media, Mangwana described Ambassador Matemadanda’s death as a significant loss to the nation, paying tribute to his dedicated service to Zimbabwe both at home and abroad.
“Ambassador Victor Matemadanda passed away last night. This is a deeply saddening loss,” said Mangwana.
He noted that Ambassador Matemadanda served with distinction as Zimbabwe’s representative to both Mozambique and Eswatini, advancing diplomatic relations and promoting the country’s interests in the region.
Mangwana extended condolences to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, whom Ambassador Matemadanda represented in his diplomatic role, as well as to the late envoy’s family, friends, colleagues and the nation at large.
Ambassador Matemadanda was a respected liberation war veteran, politician and public servant who held several key positions during his career. His death marks the loss of a seasoned patriot who contributed to Zimbabwe’s political and diplomatic landscape over many years.
