Harare, (New Ziana) Alfa Media Holdings subsidiary Heart and Soul Broadcasting Services (HStv) journalist Blessed Mhlanga who was arrested on Monday for allegedly transmitting messages inciting violence was on Friday denied bail and remanded in custody to March 14 this year.
Harare magistrate Farai Gwatima denied Mhlanga bail on the grounds that he will likely to interfere with state witness and also recommit the offence.
Gwatima also said releasing Mhlanga would destabilise the country as well as undermine peace and security as the messages that he had transmitted clearly had the potential to provoke unrest.
He also noted that police were yet to conclude their investigations as some of the witnesses, who are his subordinates, have not yet been interviewed.
Charges against Mhlanga stem from videos that he posted on Youtube on January 27 and February 11 this year in which he was interviewing war veteran and former Zanu PF central Committee member Blessed Geza who was calling for mass protests to remove a Constitutionally elected President.
