Bikita lithium’s first dispatch

BIKITA Mineral, Zimbabwe’s Lithium giant has dispatched its first consignment of
Spodumene with the company targeting to send 7 000 tonnes of Spodumene this
month.
The company invested over US$300 million towards the expansion of the plant and
exploration of the Petalite and the Spodumene plants which are expected to produce
480 000 tonnes and 300 000 tonnes respectively.
On Sunday the Chinese Sinomine Group made its first dispatch of the Spodumene
concentrates.
In an interview Bikita Minerals Public Relations Officer Collins Nikisi confirmed the
developments and said the lithium content is around 4.5 to 5 percent.
“We made our first dispatch on Sunday up to now we still have trucks that are still
leaving with Spodumene. Our target for this month is 7 000mt and can do up to
70 000 mt by August 2024.In terms of the lithium content it is 4,5 to 5 percent.”
In July, the company announced that it had completed Petalite and Spodumene
plants and had since started on the trial productions on the two sites which are
envisioned to generate US$500 million in 2023.
The mine was acquired last year at a cost of US$180 million and its US$300 million
Spodumene project is expected to ramp up lithium production and extending the life
of Zimbabwe’s oldest mine.
