A 35-year-old Manhenga man was so incensed that a neighbour had contributed to the breakdown of his marriage that he chopped off his foot and hand.
Lovemore Matonya of house number 720 Manhenga Township on 20 October armed with an axe proceeded to Onias Mufadzavana’s place in the same location.
There, he approached Mufadzavana and struck him once with the axe on his right foot and hand, charging that the man was instrumental in fueling divorce between Matonya and his wife.
After meting out instant justice, Matonya left.
Mufadzavana reported the attack at Manhenga police station and officers were deployed to look for him, but to no avail.
The following morning, Matonya’s sister visited his place to check on him. That is when she found him hanging.
According to acting police spokesperson, Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha, ZRP Bindura Rural attended the scene and the body was taken to Bindura mortuary awaiting post mortem.
ZRP is urging members of the public to seek redress through courts whenever they have been wronged and to always consider solving issues through dialogue than taking law into their hands.
