Harare, (New Ziana) –Botswana President Duma Boko was on Tuesday expected to arrive in Zimbabwe for a three-day State Visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties and unlocking new avenues for economic cooperation between Harare and Gaborone.
President Boko will meet with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to discuss strengthening collaboration across key sectors critical to both economies.
Central to the visit will be the 5th Session of the Zimbabwe–Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC), which the two Heads of State will jointly preside over.
The platform is expected to focus on transformative areas of cooperation, including trade and investment, agriculture and food security, infrastructure development, transport and logistics, energy, tourism, and the strengthening of health systems.
President Mnangagwa and President Boko are expected to provide strategic direction to accelerate the implementation of agreed programs and projects, with emphasis being placed on unlocking cross-border economic opportunities, strengthening regional value chains, improving connectivity, and fostering sustainable growth that benefits citizens of both nations.
The BNC meetings follow preparatory engagements by senior officials held on April 19 and 20, with the Ministerial Segment taking place Tuesday, co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, and Botswana Minister of International Relations, Phenyo Butale.
In a move that underscores the economic dimension of the visit, President Boko is also scheduled to officially open the 66th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo on Thursday.
The ZITF is a key platform for promoting investment, industrialization, and regional trade integration.
