KWEKWE – A 14-year-old Form Two learner was stabbed to death following an altercation with another 14-year-old boy at a church along Maunganidze Road near a local church on Friday.
The incident occurred around 4 pm near the United Family International Church (UFIC), where the accused, a Form Two learner at Manunure High School, allegedly confronted fellow learner Tapiwa Utete over a previous grudge.
The accused is expected to appear in court today.
According to police, an argument broke out between the two before the accused (name withheld) allegedly assaulted Utete, resulting in a fight.
During the altercation, the accused allegedly produced a knife from his pocket and stabbed Utete once on the left side of the chest.
Utete was rushed to Mbizo 11 Clinic for treatment but was pronounced dead upon admission.
Police recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack and arrested the accused person.
The incident has left the Mbizo community shocked, with the death of the teenager highlighting concerns over violence among young people.
Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.
