A Bindura man faces domestic violence charges after scalding his brother following a disagreement over beans.

A 28-year-old Bindura man landed himself in court last week after scalding his brother with hot water on after he had helped himself to beans without permission. The state led by Carson Kundiona alleged the incident happened on March 30.

Representing the National Prosecution Authority, Kundiona said on March 30 Tinashe arrived home late and discovered his brother, Panashe (24), cooking beans. Tinashe reportedly helped himself to some beans from the pot on the stove, which sparked a confrontation between the siblings.

In the midst of the argument, Tinashe allegedly poured scalding hot water on Panashe, causing blistering injuries. As a result, a police report was filed, leading to Tinashe’s subsequent arrest.

His trial will continue this week.
