Bulawayo gears up for Mine Entra

Bulawayo (New Ziana) – The 26th edition of the Mining, Engineering, and Transport Exhibition (Mine Entra) will kicks off on Wednesday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Exhibition Centre and run until November 3.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the exhibition, which is set to run under the theme “Accelerating Economic Transformation Through Mineral Beneficiation”.

According to Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company, a total 169 direct exhibitors have confirmed their participation, and these include nine foreign exhibitors from China, South Africa and Tanzania.

Representatives from countries such as Botswana and Australia are expected to grace the occasion.

On the local front, 60 percent of exhibitors will come from Harare while 31 percent are from Bulawayo and the remainder from other cities.

ZITF chief executive officer, Nicholas Ndebele said 36 percent of exhibitors will be local manufacturers of mining spares and mineral processing equipment.

“The three-day exhibition will feature expert led conferences, networking opportunities, and concurrent events, small scale and artisanal miners conference,” he said.

He said that the exhibition had potential to help drive economic growth and progress towards National Development Strategy1 (NDS1) and Vision 2030.

“The event aims to encourage industry stakeholders to embrace technology and innovation in their mining process to drive job creation, increase profitability and attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI),” said Ndebele.

High profile speakers, including Mines Minister Soda Zhemu, are expected to make presentations while winning displays will be presented with awards by President Mnangagwa on Thursday.

Mine Entra is organised in partnership with the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and the Chamber of Mines and is considered the largest and most reputable expo in the country.

It has also established itself as a pivotal platform for industry professionals, stakeholders and investors to connect, share knowledge, and explore innovative solutions.

The mining sector in the country plays a significant role in the economy, and Mine Entra continues to serve as a catalyst for innovation, partnership and economic development in the sector.
