Bulawayo maid who kidnapped baby arrested

Harare (New Ziana) –Police in Bulawayo on Tuesday arrested the maid who on Monday kidnapped her employer’s one-year eight-month-old child and also stole the family motor vehicle.

Writing on its Twitter page, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said the child was found in good health and had since been re-united with its family, while the motor vehicle had also been recovered.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of a maid, Kimberley Ncube (19) in connection with cases of kidnapping a baby boy (1 year 8 months) and theft of a white Sedan BMW 328i vehicle, registration number AEA 8833,” it said.

Ncube allegedly abducted the one-year eight-month-old boy and also stole the family’s vehicle which was parked at their house after she was left alone when the employer went to work.

Earlier, deputy Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson assistant inspector Nomalanga Msebele had issued a statement appealing to the public for information to assist in locating the child.

Msebele said Ncube had taken advantage of her employer’s absence who had gone to work and stole her white BMW 328i which was parked in the garage.

“She also took the motor vehicle’s documents and also kidnapped the one-year eight-month-old son and disappeared with him. We suspect that she was assisted by her boyfriend,” she said.

The police did not state where Ncube was found with the child or the reason behind the abduction.
