Bulawayo, (New Ziana) – Bulawayo police have arrested a man suspected of links to the murder of a local business in a robbery in the city.
In a statement on Friday, national police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi said Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi, 24, was arrested on Wednesday in the city while attempting to board a bus to Harare following the fatal attack.
According to police, the suspect allegedly teamed up with an accomplice identified only as Dhlamini and attacked his employer, Noor Hussein (67), at his residence on the night of May 9.
“The suspects, armed with pistols and wooden planks, attacked the victim and strangled him with a towel in front of his family while attempting to rob him and his relatives,” said Nyathi.
Police said the suspects fled the scene after family members raised an alarm, prompting relatives nearby to respond.
Nyathi said investigations led to Ndavambi’s arrest four days later in the city.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may assist in the arrest of the accomplice, Dhlamini, who is still at large,” he said.
Members of the public with information have been urged to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800197, or report at any nearest police station.
