Bulawayo,(New Ziana)— The Bulawayo City Council will use the 116th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) to market its major investment opportunities, including the proposed 60-hectare Ascot Precinct development, as it pursues its vision to become a Smart and Sustainable City by 2030.

The exhibition of the local authority at the six-day show, from August 24 to 29, will target local, regional and international investors, with a focus on projects in manufacturing, agro-processing, tourism, renewable energy, housing, logistics and Special Economic Zones.

At the centre of the investment drive is the Ascot Precinct, for which the city has called for Expressions of Interest with the land earmarked for a mixed-use development, incorporating commercial and residential facilities.

Town Clerk Christopher Dube said on Wednesday the agricultural show provides the city with a strategic platform to connect its development plans with potential financiers and private-sector partners.

“Participation at ZAS 2026 would provide the City with an opportunity to market Bulawayo as Zimbabwe’s premier investment destination while showcasing strategic investment opportunities in manufacturing, agro-processing, tourism, renewable energy, housing, logistics, Special Economic Zones and other priority sectors,” Dube said

He said the city would also showcase its investment prospectus, the Khumbul’Ekhaya Investment Conference, Smart City programs, industrial parks, the George Avenue Corridor, housing and property projects, renewable-energy opportunities as well as public-private partnership projects.

The exhibition, being held under the theme “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge,” will also allow Bulawayo to position itself as an agricultural, tourism and heritage hub.

Dube noted that the platform brings together government departments, local authorities, development partners, financial institutions, investors, private-sector organisations and international exhibitors, making it critical for the long-term development agenda of the city.
