Harare (New Ziana) –Finance, Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister Mthuli Ncube is expected to officiate at the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe (CGAIZ), formerly known as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Zimbabwe (ICSAZ) annual conference to be held in South Africa next month.
According to acting chief executive officer of CGAIZ, Tracy Mushonga, the annual gathering is set to take place from 7 to 10 October at the Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre in Boksburg, South Africa, under the theme “Better Governance, Better Future.”
She said the conference will serve as a critical platform for shaping the governance and financial accountability landscape across Zimbabwe and the broader Southern African region.
It will bring together company secretaries, accountants, board directors, legal advisors and public sector executives for a few days of intensive learning, networking and strategic dialogue.
“In a rapidly changing economic environment, good governance is not merely a compliance issue but the bedrock of sustainable growth and public trust. This year’s theme, ‘Better Governance, Better Future,’ is a call to action for every professional in our field. We must lead the charge in fostering ethical leadership, robust risk management and transparent reporting to secure a prosperous future for Zimbabwe and the continent,” said Mushonga.
She said by meeting in South Africa, CGAIZ was emphasising the cross-border nature of modern governance challenges.
“We have curated a programme that balances thought leadership with practical skill-building. Every session is designed to empower our members to drive meaningful change in their organisations and communities,” she added.
In his keynote address, Prof Ncube is expected to underscore the role of governance and accountancy professionals as architects for economic development.
On the first day, the program is expected to include a panel discussion on risk management and compliance in parastatals, a presentation on board governance in the digital era and insights on the future of work and talent development.
The second day will spotlight innovation, regulation and institutional excellence in a digital Africa. Sessions will cover sustainability reporting, governance codes, automation, AI, ESG, regulatory trends and leadership resilience.
Mushonga emphasised the role of the conference in shaping the future of the profession.
“From ESG to AI, from compliance to resilience, our sessions are designed to equip professionals with the foresight and adaptability needed in today’s fast‑changing environment. We are proud to convene thought leaders who will inspire and challenge us to raise the bar of governance excellence.
