HARARE — Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe, Midlands Province, has been confirmed as the venue for this year’s Chibuku Super Cup final, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced.

The announcement has allowed Kwekwe to host one of Zimbabwe’s major domestic football events, with Chahwanda Stadium set to welcome the finalists for what promises to be a highly anticipated conclusion to the competition.

The decision comes as the Chibuku Super Cup enters its decisive stages, with eight teams battling for places in the semi-finals after this weekend’s quarter-final fixtures.

CAPS United will face ZPC Kariba at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday, while on Sunday Dynamos will take on FC Hunters at Rufaro, with Highlanders hosting MWOS at Barbourfields Stadium. Scottland will meet Hardrock at Rufaro Stadium on Wednesday, September 16.

The quarter-final winners will advance to the semi-finals, with the two successful teams eventually meeting at Chahwanda Stadium to compete for the coveted trophy.

Hosting the final in Kwekwe is also expected to provide a major boost to football supporters and businesses in the Midlands, while giving the city an opportunity to showcase its capacity to host a high-profile football event.

Chahwanda Stadium has already featured prominently in domestic football this season, and its selection for the final underlines the PSL’s continued efforts to take major matches to different parts of the country.

With the finalists yet to be determined, attention now shifts to the quarter-finals as teams battle for a place in the Kwekwe showdown.
