    Chipinge man on the run for suspected murder

    Chipinge (Masvingo Star-New Ziana) -A man from Chinyamukwakwa village in Chipinge is on the run after allegedly assaulting his wife to death for suspected infidelity.

    Masvingo police confirmed the incident which occurred on October 6 this year in Chinyamukwakwa village, chief Garahwa in Chipinge after the fugitive, Antony Murambi allegedly assaulted Grace Khumbula following a misunderstanding over suspected infidelity.

    Provincial police spokesperson assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa said Khumbula, who was around 25 years, and Murambi who stayed together as husband and wife, had a misunderstanding over suspected infidelity at 6 am of the fateful day.

    Khumbula later left home for Chipimbi for a beer drink where she eventually met with Murambi.

    At around 3 pm the two left for home and again had a misunderstanding leading to Murambi assaulting Khumbula with a switch.

    A 16 year-old girl and three minors who were on their way to Chiremba Village using a footpath witnessed Murambi assaulting Khumbula and reported the incident to villagers in Chiremba village.

    On October 11 around 10 am a male juvenile from Chipimbi Village who was herding cattle saw Khumbula’s dead body and told one Juliet Chikotose (60) who then called Mkwasine police who attended the scene.

    Asst insp Dhewa urged people, especially couples, to seek counseling from elders in their communities when they have misunderstandings.

    “As police we urge people with information concerning Anthony Murambi to go and report to the nearest police station so that we arrest him,” he said.
