ZVISHAVANE — The commissioning of Chirere Clinic here is another milestone achievement by the
Second Republic towards improving primary health care and ensuring access and quality health
service delivery as provided for in the National Development Strategy (NDS 1).

Chirere clinic, which was commissioned by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and
Devolution, Owen Ncube, was built by Runde District Council and Simbabarashe Mumbengegwi
    assisted by the Chinese Embassy.

Chirere Clinic, wjhose construction started in June 2016, will provide primary health services to
villagers in Wards 14 and 19 who previously got services from Chenhunguru Clinic and
    Madzivadonho Clinic in Chivi.

In addition, Zvishavane Community Trust supported the project with the construction of two
ablution blocks with Runde District Council using devolution funds to drill a borehole, plumbing
works, building staff houses and painting.

This inclusive approach is in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantras of nyika inovakwa
nevene vayo and that of leaving no one and no place behind, which Minister Ncube applauded.
He said the Second Republic has implemented devolution and decentralisation in terms of Section
    301 of the Constitution.

“Modernisation of health delivery is a top priority under the Second Republic supported by Public
    Private Partnership,” said Minister Ncube.

The government has received support towards the health institutions from
Mining giants, manufacturing companies and small scale miners have also helped the government in
improving local health services through various donations as part of their corporate social
    responsibilities.

He applauded Steelmakers in Redcliff for providing free oxygen to hospitals and clinics in the
    Midlands province.

Minister Ncube said the Ministry of Health and Child Care bought eight vehicles for its districts which
were commissioned this week. The private sector is also assisting with critical equipment for
    theatres and related specialist services.

Government has increased Devolution Funds for local authorities in the 2024 budget that should see
construction of more clinics as the country strives to achieve health for all by 2025.
