HARARE — In the days before his death in a helicopter crash, Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo shared a series of social-media posts documenting encounters with prominent religious figures, family moments and his ambitions for the future.

The posts, published on his Facebook page shortly before his death, included photographs and messages about his meeting with Nigerian preacher Apostle Joshua Selman at a church conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a dinner he and his wife, Lucy Muteke, hosted for Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa at their home in Gletwyn, Chishawasha Hills, Harare.

At the House of Treasures Church Conference in Johannesburg, Chivayo said meeting Selman had reminded him that wealth, intelligence and hard work were not enough.

“As I continue pursuing my vision of becoming a MULTI-BILLIONAIRE and building businesses of significant magnitude across Africa and beyond, I understand very well that money, intelligence and hard work alone are never enough,” he wrote.

He said he needed prayers for his life, family and businesses, including protection, favour and divine direction.

Chivayo also thanked Apostle Felix Okoh and the House of Treasures Ministries for the conference, describing the gathering as a “DIVINE APPOINTMENT”.

In another post, Chivayo said he and his wife had hosted Prophet Makandiwa for dinner at their home.

He described the encounter as an opportunity for fellowship, conversation and spiritual reflection, praising Prophet Makandiwa’s ministry and thanking him for his visit.

“Some moments are simply priceless,” Chivayo wrote, ending the post with the words: “DINING WITH GRACE INDEED”.

The posts have attracted renewed public attention following Chivayo’s death in a helicopter crash in Marondera Rural on Wednesday evening.

However, neither post indicates that Chivayo anticipated the crash or his death. Their significance has instead been heightened by the timing of the posts and the events that followed.

Chivayo, 42, died alongside his wife, two pilots and two other passengers when the helicopter crashed in Marondera Rural, southeast of Harare.
