Harare, (New Ziana) – The flair for luxury was set to accompany the late Wicknell Chivhayo right to his final resting place on Thursday as the flamboyant businessman and his wife, Lucy Muteke, were expected to be laid to rest in coffins designed around two of the most recognisable luxury car brands in the world, Rolls-Royce for the husband and Mercedes-Benz for the wife.
Rather than a conventional casket, Chivhayo’s coffin carried the distinctive styling associated with a Rolls-Royce, while that for Lucy took its inspiration from Mercedes-Benz.
Chivhayo’s casket, carrying the registration WMC 777, appeared almost to have been given a showroom makeover, while Lucy’s followed the elegant Mercedes-Benz theme.
For a man known for turning heads with his taste for expensive automobiles, it seemed even death could not persuade him to travel economy class.
The couple’s final journey came with a distinctly Chivhayo touch: luxury in life, and luxury at the very end.
