Covid-19 cases rising

Harare (New Ziana) -Zimbabwe on Friday recorded 500 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths, Health and Child Care Ministry has said.
In a daily update, the Ministry said the majority of the infections were detected in schools.
“115 of the new cases reported today are from outbreaks detected from schools in Masvingo (51), Mash West (27), Mash East (25) and Manicaland (12),” it said.
“As of 24 February 2022, at1500hrs there were (49) hospitalised cases: New Admissions (7), Asymptomatic (6), mild to moderate (36), severe (4) and (3) in Intensive Care Units,” the Ministry added.
The past week has witnessed a surge in new Covid-19 cases.
On Thursday, 378 Covid-19 cases were reported while 609 new infections were recorded on Wednesday, rising from 409, on Tuesday.
On Monday, the country recorded 219 new Covid-19 infections.
Most of these were from outbreaks detected in schools in Manicaland, Matebeleland North, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Masvingo and Mash Central.
Government said all the active cases detected through the schools’ surveillance system were under isolation and being managed by the Health and Child Care.
