Division 2B League resumes

Share

CHEGUTU – MASHONALAND West Northern Region Division 2B Soccer League
has resumed after a month-long break, which was to pave way for the just-ended
harmonised elections.
The ball was last kicked on the weekend of August 5 – 6, 2023. It then only started
rolling last weekend.
The long break has affected some clubs in one way or the other. Some clubs such
as Norton Community FC, have been in good form and the team looked well-
greased. Players understood each other so the break might have cemented bonding.
Chegutu-based TelOne and Berks football clubs were also playing well and are in a
tug of war for the top position on the log from the Norton boys. Rural- based
Chingwere FC were in good form during the first leg. The club has started the
second leg by inflicting pain on the home team, Afrochine FC, with a one-all draw at
Afrochine grounds.
Another Chegutu football club, Cyclone, is struggling to make the ends meet. They
are the punching bag in the league as they managed just two wins in the first leg.
Meanwhile, Rubwe FC could not pay referees for some home games and had
automatic disqualification. Last Sunday the match between Turf Wolves and TelOne
FC was cancelled at 15:45 after the home team failed to provide the required
number of ZRP officers for security at the match. Turf Wolves also failed to pay
match and transport fees to the officials.
By the end of the season, only one team can be promoted in Division One.
