Victoria Falls – The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has temporarily restricted access to the Victoria Falls Rainforest following reports of an elephant roaming in the area, as authorities move to safeguard visitors and prevent human-wildlife conflict.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZimParks said the temporary closure was a precautionary measure aimed at protecting members of the public, staff and wildlife while its teams manage the situation.
“The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) wishes to inform members of the public and stakeholders that access to the Victoria Falls Rainforest has been temporarily restricted following reports of an elephant active in the area,” the authority said.
ZimParks said wildlife teams were closely monitoring developments and would advise the public once it was safe to reopen the popular tourist attraction.
The authority urged members of the public, visitors and tour operators to stay away from the restricted area and comply with instructions from wildlife officials.
ZimParks reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and the conservation of Zimbabwe’s wildlife heritage, adding that further updates would be communicated through its official channels.
