Empower yourselves-Garwe tell youths

New Ziana > Chaminuka > Empower yourselves-Garwe tell youths

MARONDERA- Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial chairman Daniel Garwe recently called on
youths to actively participate in the development of the economy while empowering themselves by
making use of opportunities in the mining sector.
He made the call at an inter-district meeting that was held at the Murewa Council grounds.
In Mashonaland East, there are mining activities and opportunities especially in Mudzi, Mutoko,
Goromonzi and Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe districts.
Minerals found in those districts include gold, lithium and black granite, among others.

“Our young people are the future of the country and they have to be empowered so that they can
work and improve the quality of their lives while at the same time contributing to national
development.

“There are many mining opportunities and the youths must take their place in this sector. They can
do so as individuals or in groups. Our ruling party and the Government is willing to assist them in
that regard and that is in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and
no place behind when it comes to issues of developing our country and empowering the people,” he
said.

Garwe also urged the youths to develop a habit of working hard to improve their lives and desist
from depending on handouts since some so-called well wishers have hidden agendas and end up
exploiting them.

He said: “President Mnangagwa once urged you, the youths, to make money. Work hard using your
own hands and not just wait for handouts as there are people who take advantage of your
desperation and exploit you.

You must be involved in income generating projects. We are not going to be apologetic about
handing these projects to Zanu PF youth because we have to take care of those who believe we can
build our country as Zimbabweans. Our Country has been blessed with mineral deposits and we are
currently parceling out claims. Murehwa youths must also be involved in these projects and acquire
mining claims.”
Garwe who is also the legislator for Murehwa North applauded the Murehwa Rural District Council
for considering youths requests and providing the first batch of residential stands for them in
Murehwa.

He requested the local authority to avail more land for the youths so that they can be able to build
their own homes.
"The first batch of residential stands was dispatched to the youths and the council did a great job.
We hope that more land will be provided so that everyone benefits from the programme, he said.
