    FC Platinum captain dies in car accident

    ZVISHAVANE based Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outfit FC Platinum attacking midfielder Brian Banda passed away in car accident this afternoon.

    Banda lost his life in a car accident on the Zvishavane-Bulawayo highway. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder died on the spot, leaving his team and the football community in shock.

    FC Platinum expressed their deep sadness on social media, describing Banda as a remarkable player, beloved teammate, and friend.

    “We are deeply saddened to share the news of Brian Banda’s passing, which occurred today, June 29, 2025, in a car accident on the Zvishavane-Bulawayo road.

    “Tragically, he lost his life at the scene, and FC Platinum has suffered the loss of a remarkable player. We kindly request that everyone respects his family’s privacy during this difficult time as they grieve,” read the statement.

    The Zimbabwe Football Association also paid tribute to Banda, highlighting his achievements and contributions to the sport.

    Banda joined FC Platinum from Highlanders in 2020. He won one league title with FC Platinum, won the Chibuku Super Cup with FC Platinum and Bosso (2019).

    Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
