Goromonzi (New Ziana) – Flooding has washed away a key bridge across Chinyika river in Goromonzi connecting the newly opened Arcadia Lithium Mine, local officials have said.

Heavy rains have been pouring incessantly in recent weeks in Goromonzi and surrounding areas, causing flash floods that swept away the bridge.

The bridge was built by the mine as a service to the community, and its destruction has disrupted normal movement in the area.

A detour has since been established around the bridge area to ensure continued movement, particularly to the mine which has become an economic lifeline for the Goromonzi community.
