Forty youths graduate in Mash central

Mt Darwin (New Ziana)- Forty disadvantaged youths from across Mashonaland Central province have graduated from a local vocational training institute after under-going seven months of study in various disciplines.

The training covered brick and block laying, carpentry and electrical engineering, and was conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training.

As part of practical training, the students-built classroom blocks, fowl runs and dip tanks around their institute, and electrified the college’s infrastructure.

This is under the ‘Youth Build Zimbabwe’ programme, formerly the National Youth Service.

During their training, the youths also received national orientation and patriotism lessons from National Youth Service trainers.

Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Deputy Minister, Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, urged the graduates to further their studies, and become role models to their peers.

“They have taken the role of leadership through voluntary participation and ought to be role models of patriotism and youth community social responsibility,” he said.

“I encourage you to stay away from drugs and other harmful substances, and to always respect yourselves and act with dignity as leaders in your communities. Use the knowledge and skills you have acquired here to develop your communities, and always remember that: Nyika inovakwa nevenevayo,” he added.
